“FUTURE” You, the young, are the hope and the future of the world. Christ needs you, because He longs for the gospel of salvation to reach each nook on earth. Be ready and eager to fulfil that mission in the spirit of true filial duty. Become the apostles, become generous advocates of the mystical hope that supports a man in his life–long- journey. “DIRECTION” The Ten Commandments are like a compass on the rough sea, which shows the proper direction and allows to reach the docks safe and sound. Lvov, 26.06.2001

“CHALLENGE” Do not become average, do not become the slaves to the dictates of changeable fashion, that imposes a lifestyle found the contrary to the established Christian beliefs. Have no illusions about consumerism. Christ calls on you to do great things. Do not disappoint Him, as that way you might get disappointed yourselves. Czestochowa, 15.08.1991

“DEPTH” Setting off to the deep sea means getting rid off any negative proposals and devoting all your creative abilities and the whole enthusiasm to Christ’s service. Rome, 05.04.2001

“FREEDOM” Do not fear to live against popular opinions or proposals that are contradictory to God’s law. Bravery of faith costs a lot, but you cannot fail in love! Do not allow yourself to get captivated! Do not allow to get seduced by the illusions of happiness, as the price is too high to be paid, price of usually incurable emotional wounds or even broken life. Sandomierz, 12.06.1999

“PATH” That is why, while nestling you in my arms like a father, I keep telling you: choose the narrow path, which God points to you in His Commandments. These are the words of truth and life. The road which initially seems wide and comfortable, very often turns out to be a fake. Lvov, 26.06.2001

“DANGERS” The widespread culture of illusions that ranks high anything what seems pleasing or beautiful, that culture tries to convince you that being happy means throwing the Cross away. As the pattern it may offer easy success, fast career, sexuality without responsibility and finally self-affirmation-minded existence, usually accompanied by no respect to others. Thus open your eyes wide, the dear youth: it is not the road which leads you to life, but the footpath that ends up in death. Message at the XVI World Youth Day An excerpt from the book titled “Memory and Identity” by John Paul II, chapter “Measure appointed to evil”: “(…) After the downfall of the systems based on “ ideologies of evil” (here: communism and fascism) already mentioned ways of extermination in those countries have no longer been practiced, however the legal extermination of already living human beings in womb is still taking place. That is also recognized as extermination, approved by democratically chosen parliaments and postulated in the name of the civilized development of the nations and the whole humanity. More violations of God’s law are to be mentioned. What I mean here are, for example, strong European Parliament pressures to regard homosexual relationships as other kind of a family, to which adoption would be guaranteed. We may or even need to ask whether still some other “IDEOLOGY OF EVIL” has been set in motion, in a sense GRATER AND MORE HIDDEN. , THIS IDEOLOGY ATTEMPTS TO USE HUMAN RIGHTS AGAINST HUMANS AND FAMILIES.      Why is all that happening? What are the roots of these Post-Enlightenment ideologies? The answer is unambiguous and easy: all that is happening just because God has been rejected as the Creator, the only true source of defining what is good or wrong. All what in depth determines humanity, that is “human nature” understood in terms of “reality”, has been denied and replaced with one’s “mind creation” which can easily be shaped and changed anytime.”

“LIGHT” When light gets weaker or vanishes completely one cannot distinguish the surrounding reality. In the heart of night one may fear or feel insecure and then impatiently waits till the light of aurora is coming. “LOVE” The young generally look for the beauty in love, they want their love to be beautiful. Even though they are captivated by their weaknesses, which can be called “scandals of contemporary world” unfortunately widespread nowadays, these young people however, in the depth of their hearts long for beautiful and pure love. It is true in case of boys and girls. And eventually they are aware that such love can only be granted to them by the Lord. “Crossing the Threshold of Hope”

“DUTY” You , the young, are the first apostles and evangelists of the young who face so many fearful challenges and dangers. It is you who are responsible for apostolic work in schools, offices and leisure centers and there is nobody who would replace you. Message at the IV World Youth Day
